The rules for using BiteMap — what you can post, what you can't, and what we do when someone crosses the line. Last updated 14 August 2026.
By creating a BiteMap account or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use BiteMap. You need to be at least 13 years old to hold an account.
BiteMap has zero tolerance for objectionable content and for abusive users. Catches, spot names, notes, and usernames are all written by other anglers, and we expect everyone to keep it civil. The following are not allowed anywhere in the app:
Posting any of this gets the content removed and can get your account permanently banned, without warning and without refund.
Every public catch and every account in BiteMap can be reported from inside the app — open the angler's profile and tap Report on a specific catch, or Report account for the account as a whole.
We review every report within 24 hours and remove content that breaks these rules, along with the accounts responsible for it.
You can also block any angler directly, from that same profile screen. Blocking hides their catches from your map and from everywhere else in the app, and removes any follow between you in both directions. Blocking is always reversible: your blocked accounts are listed on your Profile screen, and you can unblock from there at any time.
You own what you log. Marking a catch public gives us permission to show it on the shared map to other BiteMap users — nothing more. We don't sell your catches, and we don't license them to anyone else.
Private catches stay private to your account. You can delete any individual catch from your Journal at any time.
BiteMap shows where other anglers have reported catches and where species have been documented. It is not a legal authority on anything. Licensing, seasons, size and bag limits, protected species, access rights, and private property all vary by state and by body of water, and they change.
Check your local regulations before you fish. A spot appearing on the BiteMap map does not mean you're allowed to fish it, and does not mean it's safe. You are responsible for following the law and for your own safety on the water.
You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen — it takes effect immediately. See our Privacy Policy for exactly what gets deleted.
We may suspend or remove an account that breaks these rules, and we may stop offering BiteMap or change how it works. Where we can give notice, we will.
BiteMap is provided as-is. Catch data is submitted by other anglers and may be wrong, out of date, or missing entirely. We don't guarantee the app will be available, accurate, or that you'll catch anything.
